Winemakers of Rutherglen Website

Well, it's finally here. The culmination of a branding overhaul, lots of red wine and a beautiful partnership with the good folk of Rutherglen is a wine region website without peer.

And this is the tip of the iceberg... the next year will bring some very clever innovations -- check back often.

Tastes of Rutherglen

promotion

The Tastes of Rutherglen is North East Victoria's favourite food and wine festival. Over two indulgent weekends, festival-goers visit friendly cellar doors and meet the winemakers and families behind Rutherglen's world-class wines. They discover the passion of North East Victoria's local chefs and producers, and taste their way around this superb food and wine destination.

With illustration by Rebecca Wetzler, the 2010 Tastes of Rutherglen brochure and identity is vibrant, youthful and optimistic.

Jacqueline Evans' skincare range

Jacqueline Evans Naturopathic Skincare

packaging

The Jacqueline Evans story began in 1999 when Jacqueline first created customised skin care for a select group of clients when she worked as a naturopath in the United Kingdom. Since then, years of meticulous research have gone into product formulations. Products are based on the function of the ingredients and only the purest and highest grade natural and organic ingredients are used, including cold pressed oils, the best essential oils and beneficial levels of vitamins, minerals and herbals resulting in some of the most effective products in the world.

The amber glass used for all the packaging not only preserves the integrity of the contents better, it compliments the restrained typography and bold colour differentiation of the labels. The honesty and quality of this product is clearly communicated through a sense of nostalgia-induced trust. They just happen to look great all together on your bathroom shelf too!

Market Lane interior

Market Lane Coffee

environmental design

Market Lane is a small, specialty micro-roaster and café, located in Prahran Market, Melbourne. They source and roast specialty coffee from single farms, estates and cooperatives.

A cooperation between architect Deborah Litchfield, stylist Claire Evans and Swear Words, the design of Market Lane is a mixture of natural warmth and industrial cool. Earthy textures and colours take the edge off a clinical and scientific concept focussed on coffee education.

iPhone App Development

iPhone geekology

Yep, you read that right. The crew from Richmond are jumping on the bandwagon and embracing iPhone app development, as well as serving content to the ubiquitous device.

There are some great Melbourne studios tooling up for the iPhone/iPad and we'd like to think we can contribute some beautiful apps to the developer landscape.

Our first iPhone app is due to land in July and will help you find the best sparkling wine in Australia. Keep 'em peeled!

Melburn Roobaix 2010

we heart bikes

400 bike misfits descended on a top-secret location last weekend for the 4th Melburn Roobaix, modelled on the Paris Roobaix -- a 30km tour starting in Richmond, through Melbourne's nastiest laneways and ending in Northcote. I could say it wasn't as good as in the old days, but then I was never cool enough to get in that early.

Regardless, a bevy of beautiful bikes, overcast skies and cobblestones made for an awesome event unique in Australia. For something called "The Hell of Northcote" it was quite cruisey.

First set of cobblestones and I'd counted about 6 flats pulled over. Poor buggers.
The finish line at the historic Brunswick Velodrome. Time for beers.

Demitri's Feast

richmond review club

It is about time we reviewed this little Melbourne ripper, as it is a regular haunt for our agency.

If you haven't guessed by the name, Demitri's Feast offers a greek menu to its diners and what a versatile one it is:

- Cheap Eats voted it Best Breakfast 2010
- If you want a sub $10 lunch, the meatball wrap is fantastic
- If you want to sit down over a glass of red and be wowed by the day's special then you can do that too

It's all amazing and very well priced, there have been a few occasions where we have felt like paying MORE than the requested price... lamb to die for 16 bucks?

Inventive and cosy surroundings plus service with a genuine smile gets a big pat on the back. We are very thankful this is now on our lunchtime radar.

Boxed and Labelled

accolades & awards

Swear Words were flattered when invited to submit to the European graphic design publishing powerhouse Gestalten's latest publication Boxed and Labelled:

"Boxed and Labelled is a comprehensive overview of the most intelligent, innovative, playful and attractive examples of current packaging design."

Our work for Jacqueline Evans, McIvor Estate and Green Eggs were all selected to appear.

Massive pats-on-the-back 'round the office; a great moment for the crew, we're all very proud.

For those of you who don't remember the old Swear Words website, these are a few of the background images and that we had on random rotation of the site.

They are photos that we had taken before the advent of smart phones and the iphone. I hope you still like them.
