Track World Cup

we heart bikes

Melbourne hosted a World Cup round of Track cycling on Nov 20-22, and a few of us went down to see what it was all about.

We rocked up to see a big bunch of buff women hurtling around the track at 50+ kph in the 20km points race and then were treated to other events including the Keirin, Team Pursuit and Scratch.

But, the cool points went to the semi motorised pace bike used in the Keirin.

how cool is this

Melburn Roobaix 2010

we heart bikes

400 bike misfits descended on a top-secret location last weekend for the 4th Melburn Roobaix, modelled on the Paris Roobaix -- a 30km tour starting in Richmond, through Melbourne's nastiest laneways and ending in Northcote. I could say it wasn't as good as in the old days, but then I was never cool enough to get in that early.

Regardless, a bevy of beautiful bikes, overcast skies and cobblestones made for an awesome event unique in Australia. For something called "The Hell of Northcote" it was quite cruisey.

First set of cobblestones and I'd counted about 6 flats pulled over. Poor buggers.
The finish line at the historic Brunswick Velodrome. Time for beers.
